Is it really too late?  Years ago when everyone was claiming that the 
rainforests around Terania Creek had never been logged, I spoke to locals who 
knew for a fact that almost everything other than the Brushbox trees had been 
cleared a hundred years earlier.  Ironically, it was the Brushbox that the 
loggers in the 80's were going back for.

All I'm saying is that if we can make an effort, nature might do a better job 
of recovering than we think.


PS I've seen the damage that "selective logging" does in rainforest, and it's 
not pretty.  Maybe in Redgum forest it would be less damaging with the open 
woodland, but it would be important to leave enough old trees for the birds and
