G'day birders, I went to Castlereagh NR with Akos on Good Friday for a bit of a look around. We managed to find a few goodies like rose robin and little eagle but I think the real highlights are yet to come. The mugga ironbarks are shaping up for a good flowering season this year, with many trees in heavy bud and some already in blossom. My prediction is that the swift parrots and maybe even regent honeyeaters will be making an appearance here before too long.

We also managed to find a boobook roosting in a low hollow allowing Akos to get some fantastic photos as the bird emerged and preened before setting off for the night.

Cheers
Graham Turner
