Nick,
Your son will have no chance of missing fruit bats in Sydney
Botanical Gardens. They have been trying for years to move them on
but they persist.
If you are on Scotland Island then you may have access to a boat. It
is a nice ride across to Patonga village on the northern side of
Pittwater/Hawkesury. From there it is a lovely walk over the hill to
Pearl Beach with great views & a good chance of seeing Glossy Black
Cockatoo, Lyrebird, Origima, as well as the usual honeyeaters.
Have a great trip. Chris

Hi,
My first post....and I'm asking for help already.
I will be visiting NSW in April with my family for a family holiday
but we
all enjoy finding time for birding and wildlife watching in general
as part
of bush walks, sighseeing, etc.
We are visting Sydney, Blue Mountains, Scotland Island (Pittwater),
Jervis
Bay and the Kangaroo Valley area.
We have a local guide while we are in the Blue Mountains but would
appreciate any advice on good areas to visit to walk, see birds,
see other
wildlife and see beautiful scenery in the other areas we are
visiting. I
usually do rather more research for our holidays but have just not
managed
to this time....tut, tut......so any advice would be great.
My 7 year old son is desperate to see fruit bats in Sydney Botanic
Gardens....any chance?
We are not obssessive about seeing particular endemics or rareties
but would
just enjoy seeing as many species as possible while enjoying a relaxed
family holiday.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks in advance
Nick, UK
