Blue Billed Ducks

I saw an intersting behaviour by a male Blue Billed Duck today. He bobbed up
and down in the water several times and grabbed a couple of bill-fulls of water
and splashed them out. I'm not sure whether he was aiming the display at the
nearby female or a slightly more distant male. The two males chased each other
back and forth during the next five minutes, but I'm not convinced that the
earlier display was aimed at the male. It seemed to be aimed at the female.

Has anyone seen similar behaviour in Blue Billed or other ducks?
