The Oxford Australian National Dictionary (now available free online
at http://203.166.81.53/and/ ) gives this etymology for 'Jackeroo'
Jagara dhùgai-iu wandering white man
So, yes, the Aboriginal language of Brisbane, but no noisy birds.
