G'day,

There are three Swinhoe's and 1 Latham's Snipe at Tarzalli Lakes Fish Farm south of Malanda. The calls and behaviour were almost classically straight out of the book.

I only saw one Little Kingfisher there this morning but last week there were a pair and a pair of Azures as well.

Three male cicadabirds were seen at the Jagan Hall between Tarzalli and Malanda. I believe these birds migrate in same sex flocks, males first in the spring. Has anyone got contrary or supporting evidence?

At Michaelmas Cay I saw a female Lesser Frigatebird moulting into adult plumage. Brown Boobies, Common Noddies and Crested Terns are nesting on Michaelmas Cay.

I have Yellow-faced Honeyeaters in a flock of five at my place in Yungaburra still, after about five weeks. They have in the past been uncommon winter visitors. A single Yellow Honeyeater is being seen most weeks and the Macleay's are back but not asserting their dominance. Friarbird numbers are low.

Butterflies are abundant and breeding like crazy. Had a huge pair of phasmids mating by the verandah last night. At least she was huge.
Regards,
Alan
