I bought MacKinnon & Phillips in for a friend last year from Amazon.
Took about three weeks.

Hi Penny,

We have "A Field Guide To The Birds of Borneo, Sumatra, Java and Bali"
by John MacKinnon and Karen Phillips. This seems to be the guide
favoured by many people, including local birding guides. Not as good as
our Aussie field guides, but perfectly usable.

Unfortunately this guide is proving to be very difficult to source in
Australia.

Try Andrew Isles - www.andrewisles.com.au

Or Fishpond - if you try this, go in through the birding-aus homepage -
www.birding-aus.org - then click on the Fishpond link. When you do that
(and ultimately purchase a book), Russell receives a very small
commission that goes towards the running of the birding-aus list!
Apologies for the blatant commercial!

Alternatively, search for bookshops in the region that have mail order.
I don't know of any in Bali, but a good bookshop chain in Malaysia that
carries field guides is Times Bookstores -
http://www.timesbookstores.com.my/ - and they support mail order.

In giving you all these links, I have checked and all seem out of stock.
Times Bookshops has three field guides to Bali - none of which I am
familiar with. Maybe a more detailed web search will unearth a copy. I
would strongly recommend buying the field guide before you go, as there
is no guarantee of finding a bookshop that carries one once you're
overseas.

appreciated.

Await in wild expectation!!!
