HI All,
On Saturday afternoon around 4.30pm, when the temperature was 46 degrees
with that scorching and brutal north wind raging, now well documented
through the tragic bushfires, 14 Rainbow Bee-eaters were making quite a
racket over the house and flying headlong into the wind.
On the 3 days prior to this, groups of 4 or 5 Bee-eaters were also flying
around the house being more vocal than usual. Were they rounding up the
group to fly north? Why decide to go when obviously they were facing huge
challenges with scorching temperature and ferocious wind.?
I haven't seen or heard a Bee-eater since last Saturday.
Does anyone have arrival and departure dates for B-eaters in central
Victoria.? Are they programmed to arrive and leave on a specific date like
the shearwaters?.
On a different note, on Friday, Coles will be donating all their profits for
the day to the BUSHFIRE APPEAL...so save up your shopping and visit a Coles
store as this will be a small way to help the devastated victims of this
horrific catastrophe.
Regards
Marlene.
