Hi all

Most birders have a goodly collection of books. Some of us have favourite
books. And some of us might even have a real rarity, a very special book on
birds that is now out of print and outside of normal budgetary possibilities.
However, today I discovered this scanned text of a bird book of mega-rarity
status.

http://digital.library.mcgill.ca/featherbook/birds1-30.html

To be sure, it is perhaps sad that so many birds had to die for the making of
it, though I imagine they probably died for the table first, and the
enterprising Minaggio collected the feathers from the kitchen. Though there's
also a good chance he was a hunter as there is a section on hunting.

Still, all in all, pretty amazingly accurate depictions of the species for the
time.

Book lover and bird lover

James
