I done a wader count at Bowen Sat.31 Jan. and started approx. 1 hour after high tide. Due to the weather conditions the tide was exceptionally high and covered the normal roosting site for waders at the head of Doughty's Creek Bowen. On returning later when the sand-bank started to appear from the waves I observed Great Knots, Bar-tailed Godwits, Whimbrel and Eastern Curlew flying from the mangrove lined foreshore out onto the sand-bank. Bar-tailed Godwits remained roosting mainly on the sandbar while the remainder started feeding around the waters edge. I did not actually see them roosting in the mangroves as visibility was shocking on the weekend but from the general direction they came from one would consider it a high possibility of them roosting in the mangroves.
