G'day all

An Australian Little Bittern has been calling from a reedbed in Lake
Hamilton (southwest Victoria) for a week or so now. Last evening a male
was seen by Rob Drummond - it responded to a tape recording and showed
itself for a brief time.

There are only a couple of records in the district and none for many years.

There is a fair chance we have a breeding pair. The male seems to call
regularly about 8pm.

Cheers
Steve Clark
Hamilton, Vic
