Walked from Mt Gillen to the towers at heavitree gap this morning and approx one and a half to two kilometres west of the towers, flushed a spinifex bird from spinifex. May have been an immature as no rufous cap distinguishable(long cocked rounded tail, white eyebrow, whitish throat, skulkling behaviour). It is a tough walk just on the off chance of seeing a spinifex bird, but it may mean that after the fires some years back that the spinifex specialities(rufous crowned emu wren and spinifex bird) may be coming back to the ranges.
