Just spent a week at Hawks Nest on the northern shores of Port Stephens.
Visited Mungo Brush and while the rest of the family participated in various
water activities, I walked down to the old village of Tamboi. A surprisingly
good variety of birds, with the highlight being a single Radjah Shelduck
feeding with Pacific Black Ducks right at the shore in front of the old huts.
Two birds were at Mungo Brush for a long period a couple of years ago, and more
recntly two have been seen in Bulahdelah to the northwest. Maybe one has come
back with the Christmas camping rush about to start (or maybe there are 3?)
Cheers,
Peter
