To Philip Brook who said he'd never seen a Grey Shrike Thrush hissing while it 
flew with food in its mouth....here in Gippsland, Vic we have resident couples 
of GST's and they make a harsh, hissing, (maybe sort of clicking?) sound when 
they spot a snake or goanna.  Maybe your bird was alarmed by a snake...or you?
