I recall that many years ago, my old friend Alec Chisholm was staying at the
Belle View in Brisbane.  (Parliament House across the Street; Botanic
Gardens diagonally across the intersection.)  Told me he was surprised to
hear Whipbirds in the Gardens.

That was indeed way back: before we had laws protecting historic buildings
and Premier Joh got the Dean Brothers to demolish the Belle View one night -
fait accompli, before anyone could protest.  Don't know if the gardens still
have Whipbirds.
