Hi LArs,
I am only aware of two REGULAR pelagic (or sea-birding) trips in Tasmania - one out of St. Helen's on the North-East coast, and one out of Eaglehawk Neck on the South-East coast. I know the St. Helen's version had a trip planned for December, but not sure when, and the close of bookings was meant to be October. Still, it's worth contacting Ian May to see if anything is still available.

The Eaglehawk Neck trips are usually organised by Chris Lester ), or at least he could put you in touch with the organisers. Not sure what trips they have planned for December.

There is also sometimes a tour off the south coast to Pedra Branca rock, but much less regular, and I'm not sure who organises these. Ian or Chris may know.

I'm not sure what you class as "high quality", or "regular 'tourist' tours", but these are mostly what's available.

Hope you can link up with something to suit.

Happy SEA-birding,

Dear birders,

I'm planning for a visit to Tasmania with my family 25 December 2008 - 9 January 2009. Do you know of any "high-quality" sea-birds tours - organised or private - elsewhere in Tasmania which I could attend to see as many sea-birds as possible. I'm not looking for regular "tourist" tours.

Any information from you would be very helpfull.

Best wishes,
Lars Gustafsson
