Hi,
I wouldn't even consider a telescope for birding unless I already had a
good pair of binoculars. The latter will be used far more than the former.
As for which binoculars, there is a factor which often isn't
considered. If you have poor eyesight, particularly if it involves
astigmatism, you should only consider binoculars with a higher value of
eye relief. (around 16 - 18mm or more). This allows you to view the
whole field of view through the binoculars while still wearing your
prescription glasses. This not only means you don't have to keep
removing your glasses to use the binoculars, but you will have fully
focussed images; something that you will never have otherwise, even with
the most expensive binoculars.

rather spend money on a new camera or lens. What do people generally use? I'm
finding my current binoculars not quite up to the job at only 8x magnification,
although the poor image quality is more of a problem.
Suggestions welcome.
