My son and I went to Sydney park in the drizzle yesterday for my first ever twitch (I'm a casual birder) because we were in the area.

No crimson chats were sighted, but we did pick up three other firsts for us: nutmeg manikins (lovely!) -- a flok of 10 or so landed on the grass, ducks -- blue bills, says my son, but hardheads say I. The photos will answer when I upload them. I think for once I'm right and he's wrong on an ID, as they had stripey back sections, not solid brown. And a plover of some sort -- again, we'll have to upload and study the photos. It too was beautiful.

Take care and happy birding
