Friday through Sunday two friends, my wife and I will be in Melbourne (coming
in early Fri 31/10, flying out early Mon 03/11). Sun, we will be taken to WTP.
Probably, we will spend Saturday along Great Ocean Road to look for some
Victoria (non-Sydney) birds there.
Thus, Friday might fit best into our plan to look for the Australian Painted
Snipe. I understand that the hide will not be open Friday afternoon/evening. Is
that correct? How good is the chance to see the bird (plus crakes) from the
platform at the parking lot?
Another target bird would be Helmeted (Yellow-tufted) Honeyeater. Yellongbo
seems to be locked? Any suggestions?

Just wanted to thank you and the other volunteers for the extra hours
you are putting in to keep the hide open. Last night when I dropped in
it was fairly busy in the hide, but people were generally keeping
quiet. The Snipe moved out for a little while, still under cover, and
gave us great unobstructed views from the carpark.
Anyway - thanks for the great work you do all the time as volunteers,
but especially for the extra opening times at the moment.
