(rather lamely) My best bird was probably a Nankeen Kestrel.
When I left Russell he was looking upwards (from his excellent recumbent
trike). I was looking DOWNWARD at my handlebars, and not really
concentrating on bird calls. I did get a couple of pied oyks in
Queenscliffe.

Were there any other birders doing the Around the Bay ride last
Sunday? I should have asked before the event in the hope of meeting
up with like-minded riders.
I did ride for a short time with Bill Stent near Little River, before
he picked up the pace and left me more or less standing still. I think
his best bird to that point was a Black Kite.
I saw about 25 species for the day, just the expected species, and I
suppose my "best" would be Gang-gang Cockatoo, or a Pallid Cuckoo
(heard only), both near Queenscliffe.
Were there any other birding-aus readers on the ride, and what did you
see?
