Hi all , just home from a Darwin dash for the Little Grebe with Bob and
Trish Sothman and Enid Pascoe.
Many thanks to Niven McCrie for accessing Leanyer Ponds again and
locating the Grebe, along with a couple of Little Curlews, a Yellow
Wagtail, an Oriental Plover, maybe as many as four Little Ringed
Plovers, and sundry other pond birds.
Other highlights found were the Rufous and Barking Owls in the Gardens
(but dipped on the Oriental Cuckoo), the Chestnut Rail at Buffalo Creek,
a pair of Mangrove Golden Whistlers at Adelaide River. Got the Rainbow
Pitta at Howard Springs and near East Point - and heard others at
LeePoint and Fogg Dam forest walk. Fogg Dam is dry on the RHS going in,
no White-browed Crakes sighted on the LHS wet areas.
Very hot and humid for us Mexicans.

Tony.
