The cuckoos are in full call at the moment, Pallid, Horsfields and Shining.
We've seen our first White-browed Woodswallos high in the sky, mobbing a Brown
Falcon. A couple of Trillers have been hanging around.

Yesterday we saw a rather early pair of Cockatiels in the garden, climbing in
and out of a small hollow in the dead Grey Box next to the house. We await with
bated breath to see if they might like to stay around, it is a rather desirable
address!!'

The Diamond Firetails have bred and youngsters are hanging around the veggie
patch, along with a pair of Hooded Robins who are exhibiting breeding
behaviour. That would be pretty exciting for us as they are a relatively recent
arrival and show that whatever planting and protecting we are doing must be
reaping some rewards.

As part of my job, I inspect quarries in the north east and have been really
pleased to see the amount of Peregrines and White-backed Swallows that
inhabitat these sites. Even better is the interest that the quarry staff take
in them. I understand that the Peregrine protection group does quite a bit of
monitoring of them in the area.

Cheers

Debbie
