There was a thread about this a few weeks ago..
This morning I arrived at work and parked my bike in the car-park of a
government building in Woden, ACT. This car-park is open around the
sides and is much frequented by feral pigeons, pied currawongs, aus
ravens, starlings, mynahs and Striated Pardalotes (the last three spp
nest in the ceiling insulation).
I found a headless pigeon corpse with breast eaten, blood and feathers
everywhere. Obviously the local Peregrine had been at work. However,
what was interesting was that all the local pigeons were lined up
along the ledges of the openings to the outside, all nervously
watching, rather like people gathered to look at a car-accident.
I guess the kill had taken place at about first light, about an hour -
hour and a half before I arrived.
