Hi all,
I spent a few days in Perth for business (from 19th âÂ24th September 2008) so
used the opportunity to spend some time in the South-east of WA.
The areas I spent time in south of Perth and incredibly scenic and rich in bird
life.
The highlight for me was seeing the Noisy Scrub-bird at Two Peoples Bay, albeit
for about 3 seconds as it ran up and across a path. I certainly realised the
frustration of seeing this bird. Getting close to several other NSB's (like
Creek Crossing in Waychinicup NP and "Noisy ÂScrub-bird Rock" in Two Peoples
Bay)somtimes within metres, even centimetres without a view! I got some good
recordings of the one at Creek Crossing in Waychinicup NP).
I used various reports from Birding AUS and Frank OâConnorâs website (fantastic
website, thanks Frank). I
The following species were seen:

-ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ Laughing Turtle-Dove (Burswood, the park opposite the Casino, 20th
August)

common along the Albany Highway)

August on the Little Beach to Information Centre walk)â..I saw the bird within
15 minutes of arriving. As advised on Frankâs website I waited on the path. Two
birds were calling and one ran out on to the path. Superb location, amazing
sighting!
No luck with Western Bristlebird (followed instructions in the carpark, heard
but not seen). Nor did I see Western Whipbird or Red-eared Firetails. An excuse
to go back this remarkable region of our great country.
Cheers,
Charles Hunter
