Sorry folks

I have been a bit hasty. Today, my colleague kindly sent me three
photos. Turns out this is a classic case of taking things for granted
and not asking the obvious questions of non-birders: "What did the
bird look like?".

Somewhere along the line my colleague had come to associate the word
"plover" with something totally different, viz., "those pigeons
without the topknot" [i.e. crested pigeons]. The "plovers" that are
nesting in the hanging basket were indeed just that - a pair of
Spotted Doves!!

My apologies to all those fine upstanding plovers too!

Cheers
Michael Atzeni
