I'm interested to see what people suggest for this. I heard a similar call
to what Akos describes at the You Yangs in Victoria last week.
I'm usually pretty good with calls (especially local species), but this
really had me stumped. I can only assume what i heard was some type of
seasonal call. Possibly by some type of whistler.

[Birding-Aus] Unknown bird call
Hi,
I am taking a stab in the dark for sure, but yesterday morning I arrived
at work and heard a bird calling continuously in the east side of Prospect
Reservoir alongside Picrite Close. The call was made approximately at
three
second intervals and it was almost like a sparrows chirp, but a little
higher
kind of like a bellbird tinkle but without the echoing on the end and
continuously
at the same pitch, rather high. It was calling perpetually. Last night
when
I was leaving at dusk it was calling again in the same area. I could not
find anything at all.
I drove into the reservoir this morning and heard it again in the area. It
is probably a very common species that I have just not heard call. I have
the BOCA calls at home so will scan through them, but if any of the local
gurus could point me in any direction it would help greatly. :) Thanks
BTW, the Australian Kestrel was hovering again in the same general area as
my e-mail a couple of weeks back. Nice to see. :)
