Reading the Manly Daily today they had an article on a Brown Skua found
dead yesterday at Long Reef, Sydney. It had fishing tackle all over it
and they mentioned this as the cause of death. It had a Paris Museum
band on it and had probably been banded in Kerguelen or Amsterdam Is.
(French territories) in subantarctic Indian Ocean.

At nearby Irrawong Reserve, Warriewood I observed three Lewin's Rails
today including watching a pair mating-that must be a rare sighting!
They were seen around both boardwalk sections over the swampy margins.
At Warriewood Wetlands (Katoa Close) a single winter plumaged Fuscous
Honeyeater was in the tallest flowering Euc next to the boardwalk.
Plenty of bird action at both locations including quite a few Scarlet
and White-cheeked Honeyeaters, Eastern Whipbirds, Brown Gerygones,
Golden Whistlers, Grey Fantails, Eastern Rosellas. A great winter's day.

Cheers

Dion
