Hi all,
I spent some time in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore in April / early May
2008. Firstly in Malaysia for work and then went back for a holiday on Langkawi
Island (Malaysia) with a few days in Singapore in between.
The key highlights were in terms of bird sightings (around 80 in total – full
list below) were:
Great, Oriental Pied and Wreathed Hornbills on Langkawi Island, Orange-Breasted
Trogon (Datai, Langkawi), Brown-Winged Kingfisher on Langkawi and Crested
Serpent Eagle (Mt Raya, Langkawi).
Sightings were made very easy by using the local guides through Bird Malaysia
(www.bird-malaysia.com) and a huge thanks to Indera and friend cwloke who
helped me spot the Orange-Breasted Trogon and dozens of other great birds.
These guys are strongly recommended if you are ever in Malaysia.
The field guide I used was the Birds of South-East Asia by Craig Gibson.
