A Scrub Turkey anecdote and odd (?) Scrub Turkeybehaviour

Chris is correct re multiple females.

Once emerging the young have to regain their strength so may pop out of the 
nest at any time of the day. I have even seen a chick pull its head back 
into the mound when I came upon it. I went back a few hours later and it was 
gone. On other occasions I have visited a recently emerged chick over a 
period of a couple of hours and the chick was still there when I gave up and 
went onto other things.
