Not sure about assessment for Q6. Superbs are between 1/3 and 1/2 as big
again as Red Rumped (36-42cm vs 25-28cm per Pizzey) and look a lot more
robust. If you think the bird was Red Rumped size, it's not a Superb. I'd
go for a juvenile or female Red Rumped or at outside a female Mulga.
Female Superbs have a red bill as well. Cheers Tom Wilson 6. mid-sized Parrot with dull green breast -- ??? ~ size of red-rump Seen briefly from below. My friend the farmer whose farm we were at, says superb parrots show up there. Having never seen one, I'm not sure about them. What would be the likely suspects in the Parkes area? "Probably a Superb. The occasional red wing & mulga parrot have also been sighted in the area." =============================== www.birding-aus.org birding-aus.blogspot.comTo unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: =============================== |
