Dear All,

Not only do birds have functional knees, but Pontzer et al. (2006)
demonstrated that their knees are just as sensitive to changes in load
orientation as other bipeds.

Reference:

Pontzer, H., Lieberman, D.E., Mormin, E., Devlin, M.J., Polk, J.D.,
Hallgrimsonn & Cooper, D.M.L (2006). Trabecular bone in the bird knee
responds with high sensitivity to changes in load orientation. The Journal
of Experimental Biology 209: 57-65.

Cheers,

Stephen
