Hi all,
Recently while in Tassie i observed a flock of at least 400 Forest Ravens
flying in a very tight swirling mass just East of Hobart near Clifton Beach.
Not sure whether this is unusual but it was a very impressive sight.
Over Easter while camping on the Murray i witnessed early one morning a large
flock of over 300 Tree Martins again in a tight flock swooping low over a bend
in the river drinking and apparently bathing whilst on the wing. Again that
night they returned just prior to dusk and repeated the performance. Nature at
it's best, what a sight.
Are the size of these flocks unusual and what other flocks of birds that are
not known for flocking together have others seen.
