Branta Canadensis are considered a problem in parts of Europe, to native geese and to agriculture. They were f.i. introduced to southern Sweden in the 1930's.
I'm sure our Kiwi friends also have something to say in this regard?!

Tony, they looked very nice indeed in Killalea Lagoon........but we had to remind ourselves that they were feral. Culling IS sometimes necessary, in that prevention is better than cure. We are not God, to be sure, but we have been given minds, with which to reason. The enjoyment of nature has it's down sides, and I'm sure the authorities wouldn't have taken this task lightly. I doubt any zoo would have taken them, clipped wings or not.
Anyway, 'tis done.
