Bush Stone-curlew At Timbrell Park, Five Dock - update

The injured Bush Stone-curlew was caught on Sunday evening and taken to
Taronga Zoo's Wildlife Clinic.  Unfortunately, its prognosis is not great at
this stage.  The break in its leg turned out to be more serious than
suspected and the leg had moved out of alignment since the injury.
According to the vets, the bird would have been in substantial pain and
major orthopaedic surgery was required.  The bird has survived the operation
but we don't know whether it will survive over the long-term yet.

 

Thanks to everyone who reported the bird and kept an eye on it, the officers
at Canada Bay Council and to the veterinary staff at Taronga Zoo.
