Sorry! I was going to do this but hadn't got round to it. This morning I had an
adult Black Falcon on Watsons Rd near Lake Atkinson and 4 (2 adult and 2
immature (as adults but with dark brown iris)) Ground Cuckoo Shrikes along
Jimba Rd on grasslands adjacent to Seven Mile Lagoon. There were really
approachable. 1000s of waterbirds on Seven Mile Lagoon!Rob Morris Brisbane,

Brisbane AirportHi Rob,Not sure about the Grass Owl.In terms of the Masked Owl
at Boolumba Creek Rd (can I ask you a favour); are you able to stick this up on
the new Queenland Birdline
athttp://www.eremaea.com/BirdlineRecentSightings.aspx?Culture=en-GB&Birdline=5&Path=8It
would also be worth putting up the records of Red-backed Button Quails,
Painted, King and Brown Quail in the grasslands / wooodlands near to Lake
Samsonvale.Let me know if you have any problems (or want me to do it). Thanks in
advance,Tim-----Original Message-----From: on

: [Birding-Aus] Grass Owls near Brisbane
AirportDear allhave the Grass Owls been seen near Brisbane Airport recently ?
e.g. this summer ? - I've looked a couple of times adjacent to the Gateway
Motorway opposite the end of Toombul Rd. I'd be interested to know if they are
elsewhere or whether I'm looking in the right area? - approximately 50% of this
area is now a lake not grassland!Whilst I'm on the topic of owls, Greg Anderson
and I had a calling Masked Owl (heard a number of times over a 15 min period)
at the junction of the Maleny - Kenilworth Road and Boolumba Creek Rd. At one
point it flew over our head calling - but we didn't see it! This was at the end
on Jan 08. I'll be looking again soon......Also there are up to 6 Red-backed
Button Quails calling (last Sat and yesterday between 5.30-6.30am) in
grasslands near to Lake Samsonvale - no views though. Tom Tarrent and I also
had Painted (in adjacent wooodlands), King and Brown in the same area. Rob
