A wet day has brought the Superb Lyrebirds out and about round my house. An
adult male has been seen several times during the day with a couple of
female/immatures trailing behind. The interesting thing is that I distinctly
heard it imitate the Boobook Owl twice. I've never heard that before and
wonder if anyone else has ever noted imitation of a nocturnal species. I've
done a quick search of the Archives but found no mention of boobook
mimickry.
