February appears to be a great month for Long-tailed Jaegers off Maroubra.
David, Stuart and I had good numbers (up to 80 birds) around the 25th of Feb
in the 2 previous years. They are no way as rare as I once thought off our
coast.

Hi Folks,
This pm there was a stream of Long-tailed Skuas going south this pm - in a
1hr period (4pm to 5pm) I saw over 100! - after 24 hrs of southerlies and
south-easterlies. They were on the edge of the brown water/blue water
discontinuity about 600m away. I had seen records of (and heard of) such a
number but never expected to see it. Also this pm:
2 Sooty SW
200+ Wedge-Tailed SW
50+ Short-Tailed SW
+25 Pomarine Skua
1 adult Black-Browed Albatross
This morning with Ray Gobbe:
+500 Wedgies
+200 Shorties
4 Sooties
1 Wandering Albatross (100m off the cliffs!)
+10 Pomarine Skua
1 Arctic Skua
+10 Long-Tailed Skua
Cheers,
Graham Buchan
