Where did you see them, Chris? I've spent quite a bit of time down
there since the rain filled it up on Saturday night, and despite
scanning the reeds slowly and thoroughly I barely saw anything move,
just the occasional swamphen, moorhen or reed-warbler.
You may well be right about mornings being best, as that's when I had my
last good sighting, but I'm wondering how much luck is involved too.
And possibly skill, although I don't know what I can do to look harder
than I already am. I sometimes wonder if my slow scanning is causing me
to miss the birds that pop out and back while I'm not looking.
