Hi Duncan
Thanks for clearing that up. I don't think the comments were
intentionally negative - but just like the discussions that have taken
place with each new field guide update, most of the things people write
about are the negatives!
I've just been reading a book that delves into the psychology of good vs.
bad - there is a precept that "good is stronger than bad" that you'll see
reflected in many areas of life. There's a physiological explanation
which I won't go into detail about - just that the brain mechanisms that
respond to dangers and "bad" happen faster than those that trigger
positive responses. How many times have you dwelt on the one bad thing
that happened in an otherwise positive day? Or in my case, how much angst
have I felt at missing 2 "gettable" endemics in New Caledonia, instead of
feeling pleased about the 19 I saw, all clearly and at close range?
So while I agree with everything that has been said about Birdstack, I
think it has a nice, clean, simple interface and it appears to be very
flexible - one of the most important criteria for an online database!
Cheers
