I meant smarter than back when sparrows, etc, were originally released.
By 1968 I would have thought that the authorities at least would not
allow this kind of thing if they knew about it.
If it's a myth then it's certainly widespread on the internet. Some
sites say a dozen were released, some say 100, others say 110.
Interesting variations. It surprises me that an exact number like 110
is mentioned, as it implies that a lot of detail is known about the
release.
100 is a lot of birds to catch and transport. He must have been very
keen. Pity he didn't think to keep just one or two in a cage.
It makes you wonder just how much stuff is being released without anyone
knowing.
