Hi,

I sent this to Dave yesterday - now for everybody:

The best Field Guide for Morocco is:
Birds of Europe by Killian Mullarney, Lars Svensson, Dan Zetterstrom, and Peter
J. Grant (Princeton University Press - US-american version)
Bird Guide: The Most Complete Guide to the Birds of Britain and Europe by Lars
Svensson, Peter J. Grant, Killian Mullarney, and Dan Zetterstrom (Collins -
British version)
Note: Both books are identical (just from different publishers)

Although it says "Europe" it also covers Morocco.

There are also several good site guides:
A Birdwatchers' Guide to Morocco by Patrick and Fedora Bergier. 2003. A greatly
enlarged and thoroughly revised second edition of the standard site guide to
this ever-popular birding country, with 166 pages and 54 maps. Softback, £14.75.
Finding Birds in Northern Morocco by Dave Gosney. 1993. A concise but very
precise bird-finding booklet, with 23 pages and numerous annotated maps.
Softback booklet £6.00.
Finding Birds in Southern Morocco by Dave Gosney. 1996. A concise but very
precise bird-finding booklet, with 28 pages and numerous annotated maps.
Softback booklet £6.00.

The Birds of Morocco by Michel Thevenot, Rae Vernon and Patrick Bergier. 2003.
A detailed BOU status on the birds of this popular birding country, with 600
pages and 32 colour plates. Reviewed in Birding World 16: 483. Hardback £45.00.

Happy New Year!

Nikolas

Dave
many of the European Guides cover North Africa too (eg my circa 1993 Collins
Pocket Guide), but perhaps these would not show species that would never be
expected to stray north of the med?
Cheers
