Further to your message re Powerful Owls at Macquarie Uni, I
subsequently bought the book that was being reviewed: "The Slow Guide
- Sydney".
The SMH review has misquoted the book. What the book actually says is:
"Tony Dymond of the Cumberland Bird Observers Club, says there are
about 30 to 40 pairs of Powerful owls in the Sydney Basin. ......They
have been spotted clutching prey in their talons at Macquarie
University & at the Australian Museum & at a law firm in North Sydney."

And this weekend 15/16 December, there is a large picture on the
front page of Emperor Penquins with chick in the Antarctic, with a
caption underneath that refers to Adelie Penquins. Where is the
SMH's bird expert???
