Just received a copy of Pizzey and Knight (Menkhorst) 8th Ed for
Christmas. It mentions that it is "fully revised to include 46 new
Species". I notice that it has clumped a number of species such as the
Sooty Owls and split others eg Rufous Fantail and Arafura Fantail.
Is this a preview of what is to come in the Christidis and Boles 2008
Checklist??? How can the authors "anticipate changes to the list of
Australian birds being drafted by........." If all the anticipated
changes do not eventuate in Jan/Feb/Mar.......(whenever it is published)
my 2007 Christmas present could be out of date very quickly.
This is not meant to be an attack on Peter, Frank or anyone else
involved with the publication of this book. I admire those who take the
time and effort to make our (bird watchers) lives easier.
