John,

Have you checked Hoyo et al. Handbook of the Birds of the World. Unfortunately
my personal copy is still with all my other belongings in a container waiting
for Australian Customs Service and the Australian Quarantine and Inspection
service. So I can't look it up now.

Subject: [Birding-Aus] Subspecies of Macropygia amboinensis on Aru Islands

Hi all,

Can anyone tell what subspecies of Slender-billed Cuckoo-Dove Macropygia
amboinensis breeds on the Aru Islands.

No recent subspecies lists (e.g.Dickinson(2003), Clements(2007), Peters
(1937) mention Aru Islands. Salvadori (1893), includes Aru Islands in the
distribution of M.a.doreya. But in zoogeographical terms, it could be
M.a.keyensis of the Kai Islands.

Thanks,

John Penhallurick
