A Bustard has been patrolling a paddock east of Lake McLarty since at
least last Thursday (discovered by Iain Taylor and Maree Weerham). It
was still there yesterday evening (7pm) in the last paddock before the
treed environs of the lake. It can be well viewed by bins and scopes
from the road to McLarty and from the small no-through-road running to
the west of the paddock. The latter provides some cover for viewing.
Morning and evening is probably your best bet as the grass is
sufficiently long for it to disappear completely when it rests during
the day though initially it was seen at around 2 pm. Note, this is
private land so for the sake of both the bird and the landowner, please
do not enter.
