Hi all,

Please see below the final results for the Birds Australia National
Twitchathon. The results were determined using the Modified Dolby
System: team score = team total/state average of past winning scores x
100.

Congratulations once again to the Hunter Home Brewers for being the
national champions. Well done also to the Tasmanian racers - and the
Tasmanian organiser John Tongue - who have participated marvellously for
the last few years. (Please note that the Tasmanian average is based on
two years rather than ten.)

It is important to note that twitchathon is of course just a bit of
environmentally sensitive competitive fun, but with some many teams
competing and raising money the end result is very very productive for
ornithological conservation in Australia. In the last few years in
Victoria alone the event has raised over $25000 for bird research! Well
done. It is worth noting also that a major aspect of the twitchathon is
ethical and minimum impact birding, which is formulised into the rules
of the competition.

Any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
