Gouldians are one of many Aus bird species that are now widely distributed aviary birds [like the ubiquitous budgies and weeros] - I expect you'll find them at most bird shows [eg at RNA events like the EKKA] these days.

a bit late on this thread but years ago i was horrified to see in a trailer for "batman returns" a gouldian finch (one of the rarer morphs i recall) in a cage. wonder where warner bros got it from?
it must rate as one of the rarest aussie birds ever to star in a movie.
king or emperor and i think magellan penguins also featured.??
