Dear Birders,
I flew up to Port Macquarie (also in NSW) and drove to South West Rocks (a town 
near to Kempsey in NSW) to look for the Lesser Yellowlegs. Very fortunately I 
had arranged to meet up with Ken Shingleton at SW Rocks. Ken is of course the 
person who originally found the bird. Ken took me first to the swamp at 
Sunshine Reach where the bird had last been seen. it was nowhere to be seen 
despite a very thorough search. He then took me to the swamp at the end of 
Boyters Lane where it had been seen initially and where it had stayed for a few 
days. Again there was no sign of the bird, or indeed any of the Marsh 
Sandpipers with which it had been hanging out.
Ken then suggested that we then went to the first pond on the right in Boyters 
Lane which he knows is a favoured place for Marsh Sandpipers. As soon as we 
raised our scopes there it was! Long thin bill, eyebrows only forward of the 
eye, primaries extending back past the tail, bright egg yellow legs and a bit 
bigger than the Marsh Sandpipers. Great bird and thank you Ken.
