On Monday last, whilst visiting an area of parkland beside the George's River
SW. of Sydney in the suburb of Milperra , I saw two parrots feeding together in
the short grass nearby. One was a female Redrump Parrot the other was a fine
male Crimson Rosella . a few minutes later they both flew to the top of a
nearby tall tree stump , the female entered a hole in the top of the trunk and
the male Crimson Rosella took up a perch at the entrance. Is it likely that
these two apparently unrelated species would associate in the wild.? There were
others of both the parrots in the vicinity at the time The birds were still in
this position when I left the shelter shed about half an hour later.
