Dear David,
Unfortunately there was noone on the trip who was into serious bird photography so no photos worth mentioning (mores the pity as a good photo may have resolved the Long-toed Stint issue!). I understand that Oriental Plover are seen quite commonly when they first arrive in Australia in September or October. I understand that as the wet comes in they disperse and are not so obvious. The group I was with saw them at Nightcliffe (Darwin suburb) before we arrived and we saw then again at the Mitchell Plateau airstrip. Frank O'Connor's website suggests that they are common on beaches around Broome at this time of year.
Regards
Peter
